Chipmunk T. 10 WK608 Royal Navy Trainer in 1/72 scale die cast and mfgered by 72 Aviation. The de Havilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk is a tandem two-seat, primary trainer. It first flew in May 1946 and entered service the following year. It was the first aircraft designed and built by de Havilland Canada. Designed to replace the ageing de Havilland DH82 Tiger Moth. It became the standard primary trainer for the Royal Canadian Air Force and Royal Air Force. The RAF received Chipmunk T.10 WK608 c/n C1/0617 in 1952. In June 1966 the aircraft entered service with the Royal Navy’s Britannia Flight. Stationed at Roborough airfield, Plymouth. It remained there until July 1993 when transferred to the RNHF at Yeovilton. Used for providing RNHF pilots with tail wheel experience. WK608 is not used on the airshow circuit and is the last flying Chipmunk in RN service.
