Brewster F2A-2 Buffalo US Navy Carrier-Based Fighter, Serial #2-F-7, BuNo. 1412, VF-2 (Fighting Squadron 2) "The Fighting Chiefs", Third Section, flown by the section leader, USS Lexington, CV-2, Spring 1941. Note that the insignia on both sides of the fuselage just forward of the cockpit is the Chief Petty Officer shoulder patch. The inscription on the base of the model's stand reads "Brewster F2A Buffalo, Fighting Squadron Three, USS Saratoga, 1939" but the squadron identity, carrier to which it was designed and the year are wrong and the aircraft is the "Dash 2" version of the F2A which was designated as the "F2A-2". This die cast is in 1/72 scale and mfgered by War Master.
